UFC 129 Video Preview: Jose Aldo Sees Title Defense As 'The Fight of My Life'

Jose Aldo will make his UFC debut on April 30 in front of the largest crowd to ever witness a mixed martial arts event in North America. Adding to the pressure will be the fact that Aldo will be defending his UFC featherweight title for the first time.

Aldo's opponent will be Mark Hominick. Hominick, a native of Ontario, Canada, will most likely have the crowd on his side at UFC 129 as the event will take place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

With all these contributing factors, it is no surprise that Aldo told Tatame.com, "I see it as the fight of my life."

When the UFC absorbed the WEC in 2010, Aldo transitioned from WEC champion to UFC champion. He was set to defend his title for the first time at UFC 125 but a neck injury forced him to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Josh Grispi.

Aldo feels he is fully recovered and ready for Hominick. "I’m fully recovered, I have no injuries," the champion told Tatame. "I feel fine, I’m training non-stop, I have no injuries what-so-ever, so it’s just get there and do my job."

When asked about the pressure of making his UFC debut on such a large stage Aldo seems at ease. "The expectation is always high since you’re fighting on the best show on earth, but, as I always say, I leave it to the press, and I leave it outside," Aldo said.  "I concentrate on the fight, I keep myself focused on the trainings, I don’t ever let my feet off the ground."

UFC 129 will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between the champion, Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields.
