Recalls: FCA recalling 33k vans and SUVs for TPMS problems in two campaigns

Ram ProMaster

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is issuing two, separate recalls covering a total of 33,443 examples in the US of the 2014 Ram ProMaster, 2014 Jeep Wrangler, 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan and 2014 Chrysler Town & Country because of potential problems with the tire pressure monitoring system in the vehicles.

The first campaign is for 23,053 units of the 2014 Ram ProMaster. It's possible for the TPMS to not recognize the location of the data coming from the sensors in the wheels. If this happens, then the low tire pressure warning light comes on and potentially gives the driver a false positive. If the warning isn't cleared, and drivers keep going, they might not be aware of another tire that actually has low pressure. This fix for this is a software update.

The second recall covers 10,390 examples of the 2014 Wrangler, Grand Caravan and Town & Country. According to FCA, it's possible that a test mode for the TPMS is still on since being shipped from the supplier. On affected vehicles, it could cause inaccurate pressure readings. The repair involves disabling that mode on the TPMS module.

Neither issue is responsible for known injuries or accidents, and affected customers should be advised by mail in November. Scroll down to read FCA's statement about both recalls and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report for the ProMaster campaign. The agency has not yet published a similar announcement for the other repair.

Blizzard wants you to update your payment information

Blizzard made a good point today -- you should probably check and make sure all your payment information is updated. If it's not and something goes wrong, now is the time to deal with it, rather than when the assist queues are busy with all the stuff that happens during an expansion release.

This probably isn't some evil conspiracy. But for those of you that want to don your tin foil hat and think that Blizzard wants to collect new payment info so that they can do nefarious things with the money, bravo. I salute your conspiracy-ness.

To check your payment info, Blizzard has outlined the following steps:
Blizzard Entertainment
1. Log in to your Battle.net account at https://battle.net/

2. From the Settings dropdown, select Contact & Shipping Addresses.

3. Make sure you're seeing your current Contact Address and phone number, and then click Shipping Address to make sure that's up-to-date as well.

4. Return to the Settings dropdown and select My Payment Options.

5. Select Edit next to each payment method, and make sure you're seeing your current information.

Conner Frankamp Transferring from Kansas: Latest Details, Analysis and Reaction

Sophomore guard Conner Frankamp has decided to transfer from Kansas University, per Gary Bedore of KUSports.com.

Frankamp appeared to be dissatisfied with his minutes last season and his chances of earning more playing time in the upcoming season, per The Kansas City Star's Rustin Dodd.

Thus he has made the decision to continue his collegiate basketball career elsewhere.

Head coach Bill Self had this to say about Frankamp, per Bedore: “This was disappointing news to us. Conner is a fine young man, a very good basketball player and certainly part of what we had envisioned not only [for] our future but also as an impact guy for this upcoming season."

Self added:

We still have six other very good perimeter players. We’re looking forward to all six of those guys contributing in a big way and meaningful minutes throughout the course of the year. Conner will finish this semester academically and will continue to get academic support from us. We wish him the best in his decision making of his new school and in his future basketball endeavors.

Coming out of high school, the Wichita, Kansas, native was a sought-after prep prospect. He was considered the top shooter in the 2013 recruiting class by Jerry Meyer of 247 Sports.

No immediate schools have been mentioned as potential landing spots for Frankamp. Last season, the 6'0" guard averaged just 2.6 points per game in 8.3 minutes per contest in his freshman campaign.

With a stacked backcourt featuring highly regarded sophomore Wayne Selden, super freshman Kelly Oubre, sophomore Frank Mason and others, Frankamp was going to be in an intense battle for minutes this season.

While his experience may be missed, the Jayhawks should be able to absorb the loss without major consequence.

Report: Obama administration eyeing new NHTSA boss after safety lapses

General Motors Recall Congress

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn't had much to celebrate this year. The botched handling of major recall campaigns from General Motors and for faulty Takata airbag inflators haven't put the agency in the best light. Also, its new VIN lookup for safety campaigns, which should have been a major step forward, crashed the first time it was really needed. Clearly, something must be done, and it appears that the government's solution might be an overhaul of the bureau, starting at the top.

According to insiders speaking to Reuters, acting NHTSA boss David Friedman (pictured above) is unlikely to be nominated to take the job long term. Furthermore, the feds are already searching for his replacement, and the new director is expected to be announced soon. The changes might go even deeper, though. According to Reuters, both Congress and the Department of Transportation, which oversees NHTSA, are conducting their own inquiries into the agency.

It's certainly not Friedman's first visit to Capitol Hill this year. He already testified in front of the Senate, and a report from the House Energy and Commerce committee claimed that NHTSA's incompetence allowed GM's problem with ignition switches to be undetected for so long. It hasn't been an easy tenure at the organization for Friedman. He only started working at the safety watchdog in May of 2013, and took over running things around the beginning of the year when David Strickland stepped down.

While it could be argued that NHTSA is doing an incompetent job this year, understaffing might also play a roll. The Office of Defects Investigation that actually researches and reports recalls has just 51 people who keep an eye on safety and only $10 million of NHTSA's budget. With over 544 recalls so far this year, it may keep them spread a bit too thin.

Cam Newton's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 9

Cam Newton's numbers have steadily dropped in each of the last four weeks, and on Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints he had arguably his worst performance of the 2014 season.

You can view his final numbers below from what was a 28-10 loss for the Carolina Panthers.

Newton's rushing numbers helped to salvage what would've otherwise been an awful fantasy night. According to ESPN Stats & Info, that touchdown was his first on a scramble in a little over a year:

The problem for the fourth-year quarterback is that his supporting cast is severely lacking in quality. Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen are the only viable threats through the air, and the offensive line has some glaring holes. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller thinks that Newton shouldn't commit to the franchise until those problems are solved:

Newton's potential on the ground continues to make him a tantalizing QB1, but he's better off on your bench right now. His recent numbers are far from flattering, and there's little indication that things will improve anytime soon.

Official: Ferrari to be spun off from Fiat Chrysler

Fiat Chrysler chairman Sergio Marchionne smiling

The recently merged Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire has ambitious plans for growth, and it's going to need some big bucks in its coffers in order to enact them. Part of that cash injection is coming from the floating of its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange, but now FCA has announced a further capital campaign to be based on the enormous asset that is Ferrari.

FCA's board of directors has just approved the separation of Ferrari from the rest of the group as a separate entity. Once that separation is complete, Ferrari will put 10 percent of its shares on the stock market "in the United States and possibly a European exchange" as well.

This isn't the first time that the idea of a Ferrari IPO has been raised. Sergio Marchionne, chief executive of Chrysler, Fiat and Ferrari (pictured above), first raised the idea four years ago. Former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo nixed the idea, but now that he's been discharged, it appears there's nothing to get in the way of Marchionne's desires.

The remaining 90-percent stake in Ferrari will be distributed among FCA's existing shareholders, of which the largest (at over 30 percent) is the Agnelli family's Exor investment company headed by Fiat chairman John Elkann.

Saints' Jimmy Graham Headbutts Bench After Scoring TD vs. Panthers

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham is no longer allowed to dunk the football over the goal post after finding the end zone, so he has to find a new way to celebrate touchdowns.

The Saints would probably just prefer that he didn't make a habit of slamming his head against the bench the way that he did after scoring a touchdown near the end of the first half of Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers.

There have been a few serious injuries in the NFL this season that have resulted from celebrating, and New Orleans doesn't need Graham to pull a Gus Frerotte and injure himself while headbutting something.

Graham's touchdown gave the Saints a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Official: Detroit Electric shows new fastback style for SP:01

Detroit Electric SP:01 Fastback

There's been a proud history of basing electric sports cars off of the Lotus Elise. Its lightweight architecture has formed the basis for the original Tesla Roadster, the PG Elektrus, the Rinspeed sQuba concept, the Zytek Elise prototype and the Dodge Circuit EV show car. But those projects have all come and gone. That run might not be over, though, as the next to raise the flag is Detroit Electric.

The startup showcased its SP:01 prototype over a year ago, and has been promising production ever since. Now it says it's on the verge, and has revealed a revised design for the production model - albeit in just the one solitary CGI image you see here. The updated shape, which looks rather similar to the comparably sized Alfa Romeo 4C, takes more of a fastback approach instead of the flying buttresses on the original design. The new form is designed to be more aerodynamic and incorporates an integrated rear wing and underbody diffuser to make it all the more so.

Although it's not showing us what it looks like yet, Detroit Electric also says it has updated the front end as well. Chief designer Jerry Chung says "The final design of the SP:01 incorporates signature Detroit Electric design DNA, carried over from the prototype model we revealed last year. Coupled with many motorsport visual cues, the new fastback design, bold face and sharp contours evoke the company's vision of pure electric performance."

Whatever it looks like, the Detroit Electric SP:01 is slated to go into production in the UK - not in Detroit or Holland as previously planned - next year, promising a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed set at 155 miles per hour, all on electric power.

Why Mike Wallace's Role in Miami Dolphins Offense Shouldn't Change

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace did what he has done so many times before: He ran fast downfield, streaking through the Jacksonville Jaguars defense, trying to create some separation using his world-class speed to help his team make a big play.

The result was something we have seen all too frequently in the past two seasons: a rainbow pass from Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill with no pot of gold at the end. Only a harmless thump of the pigskin against the turf.

To say Wallace is frustrated with the Dolphins offense would be an understatement.

"We didn't do nothing," Wallace told reporters after the game, per Adam Beasley of The Miami Herald. "Our offense was [expletive]. We've got to do better."

The main sources of Wallace's frustration are the lack of explosive plays on offense and the lack of downfield throws in his direction. But while the offense certainly needs to create more big plays, as evidenced by Tannehill's average of 6.6 yards per pass attempt (fourth-lowest in the NFL, per Pro-Football-Reference.com), chucking it deep to Wallace isn't the answer.

Anyone who believes that to be the problem is conveniently forgetting the struggles on deep passes last season. Who could blame Dolphins coaches for avoiding the long ball after last season, when Tannehill only hit Wallace on six of 36 deep attempts?

He caught a long pass against the Jaguars, netting 50 yards in the process, but that was not enough to sate his hunger for the long ball.

"That's what I do; I'm built for that,” Wallace said. "I'm not excited about [catching a deep pass Sunday]. That's what I do."

But that's not been what he's done since joining the Dolphins. And if you look at Wallace's statistics thus far, he's on pace for similar numbers to those he posted last year, despite roughly 13 fewer deep attempts in his direction.

Thus, it's easy to understand why Dolphins coaches would have their doubts about having Tannehill chuck it deep to Wallace on a consistent basis. Some folks may rally behind the idea that a few deep shots a game should be in order, if only to potentially get a pass interference call, but Tannehill simply hasn't been accurate enough on those throws to warrant such considerations.

Since entering the NFL, he has hit on only 43 of 138 passes that traveled 20 yards or more.

Tannehill's deep accuracy issues are evidence that the problem isn't the lack of deep attempts. The deeper problem is Tannehill's inability to take advantage of the routes Wallace is running by hitting him with accurate short and intermediate throws.

Here, we see Wallace running a dig route on 1st-and-10 with 8:01 left in the second quarter against the Green Bay Packers. There's an old adage for quarterbacks throwing a timing pattern in the NFL: "If you wait, you're late." That certainly applied here.

If Tannehill had thrown the pass at this moment, he would have hit Wallace at the left hash mark and given him room to run.

Instead, Tannehill waited for Wallace to clear the underneath linebacker, who was in zone coverage and wasn't going to funnel across the field with Wallace. That hesitation allowed Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to read and react to the route, coming downhill to put a hit on Wallace that forced the incomplete pass.

On 2nd-and-5 with 3:18 left in the second quarter against the Chicago Bears, Wallace lined up on the offense's right and ran a short curl pattern. The Bears cornerback, in a show of respect for Wallace's speed, gave him plenty of cushion off the line of scrimmage to get a free release. With the extra space, this was an easy pitch-and-catch for Tannehill and Wallace.

The only problem was, Tannehill made it more difficult than it had to be.

A low pass forced Wallace to go down to his knees to make the catch and prevented Wallace from getting any yards after the catch.

Perhaps the Dolphins should try to get Wallace involved more on screen passes, which would allow him to use his trademark long speed without exposing Tannehill's inability to consistently deliver accurate deep passes.

The Dolphins have carved out a nice role for Wallace as a possession receiver, not because they don't like his speed, but because that's what Tannehill can do successfully. There's no reason the Dolphins should feel sorry for how they have used Wallace.

Maybe another deep attempt or two per game would make a small difference, but the only thing that needs to dramatically change about the Dolphins offense is Tannehill's consistently inconsistent play.

Unless otherwise noted, all quotes obtained via team news release and all stats obtained via Pro Football Focus (subscription required).

Breakfast Topic: How do you feel about personal loot?

One of the things I disliked the most about UBRS when we got it was the personal loot system they introduced - it stripped away the way it worked before in LFR, and forced you to actually loot the boss, but you still had a chance for nothing to drop for you. I actually liked the way it was handled in LFR before, where if I got a drop I knew it immediately and could decide to use my Warforged Seal or not right there, I didn't have to run up and loot first to see if I'd gotten the drop I wanted.

But since I'm aware that I often am alone in these opinions, it occurs to me that you might like the personal loot system we have now. Maybe you think we should have to loot the bosses, that it returns a certain nuts and bolts practicality to the looting process. I personally feel like there's something almost atavistic in the way loot worked before, that it would appear and we could choose to roll on it or not - maybe it's just that I've been playing WoW for a decade and my brain has accepted the dopamine rush of seeing a loot window, I'm not sure.

What's your take on it? Do you love personal loot or loathe it?

And watch it again myself another couple dozen times or so. Let's see what we've got for Warcraft questions today, shall we?

Q4tQ: Speaking of the Toybox, Is there anything you wish were included for it? I would have put Innkeeper's Daughter back in there, since in the beta it was in there and it serves no other purpose then being a HS.

There are actually a bunch of older items -- old trinkets, mostly -- that I wish would just be moved to the toy slot. Obviously, they are items that can be equipped, so they don't technically count as a toy -- but that was pretty much the only option for fun items back then. Things like the Piccolo of the Flaming Fire, or even items from old world events, like the Argent War Horn. Those old world event items can't even be obtained anymore, but they do cool things that are more suited to a toy than a trinket. I'd be happy if I could get them out of my bank, I don't want to simply because they can no longer be obtained and they're neat.

OK Go ride Honda UNI-CUB ? in latest amazeballs music video

Ok Go I Won't Let You Down video

When Honda unveiled the slimmed-down βeta version of its Uni-Cub last year, it might have thought the minimalist electric vehicle would find its most enthusiastic audience inside office buildings, where it would simultaneously lighten the load of worker drones and perhaps inject a bit of rolling robotic tech-type fun into an otherwise drab and dreary day. It was wrong. Clearly, this personal mobility machine was destined for greater things.

Honda paid for the new video, which was shot a half-speed. When you watch it, you'll know why.

For instance, it could be used for electric unicycle square dancing (Okay, technically the Uni-Cub β employs one wheel and a caster-type ball, thereby disqualifying it from unicycle status, but whatever.) Or even better, it could be a platform upon which the power pop group OK Go and a few hundred Japanese school girls could perform awesome maneuvers, including the aforementioned electric unicycle square dancing, in their latest totally amazeballs video. Honda reportedly paid for the new video, which was shot at half-speed and when you watch it, you'll know why.

Where before we thought this curious device, with its intuitive steering and self-balancing, would only really ever find a place as a demonstrator of Honda's engineering prowess, we now see it as a foregone conclusion that it will infest our daily lives and fill them with fantastic choreographed journeys of art. Thank you for opening our eyes, Ok Go.

To have your own eyes opened, just scroll below for the visual accompaniment to I Won't Let You Down from the new album, Hungry Ghosts. As is the band's wont, it's all done in one take, and is sure to drop your jaw. Ok, go!

Shinji Kagawa Wows Fans with 'Zidane-Esque' First Touch Against St. Pauli

It never quite worked out for Shinji Kagawa at Manchester United but he showed again on Tuesday night just why the Borussia Dortmund fans love him.

The Japanese star showed amazing control when he flicked a high ball effortlessly into his path during the second half of Dortmund's German Cup win at St. Pauli.

The piece of skill was quickly compared to a similar trick once pulled off by the great Zinedine Zidane

Kagawa also scored in the match as Dortmund ran out easy 3-0 winners.

The Queue: 7 days

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

I've had myself convinced that my road trip to BlizzCon began on November 4. I checked my intinerary this morning and realized it starts November 2. There's a bit of panic happening, people. It's okay, though. I'll just let Taylor Swift's new album loop a few more times. That'll fix it.

Jalamenos asked:

How will gems and enchants work on WoD gear? Changing stats according to spec is great but I would really rather not have agility gems on my healing gear.

WoW Moviewatch: Old Gods Are Everywhere

I don't think it's a secret that I'm a fan of the Old Gods -- I like writing about them, I like coming up with crazy theories about them, and I just like the whole vibe of terrifying beasts of darkness lurking below the earth. Needless to say, when I ran across this machinima from earlier this year by Mooclucking, I was absolutely delighted. Old Gods Are Everywhere is a pretty self-explanatory title, but the machinima surprised me with its delivery -- several of the jokes had me laughing almost immediately from the visuals.

And since we're in full swing of Hallow's End, it seemed only appropriate to share the film's tongue-in-cheek, slightly spooky message during the holiday. After all, you never know where you'll find an Old God next. If you like the video, be sure to check out Mooclucking's channel on Youtube for more machinima.

Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.

For instance, it could be used for electric unicycle square dancing (Okay, technically the Uni-Cub β employs one wheel and a caster-type ball, thereby disqualifying it from unicycle status, but whatever.) Warlords of Draenor cinematics, machinima, and more with Terran Gregory

If you've played World of Warcraft since the beginning, you've doubtless witnessed a slow evolution of story development take place in the form of in game cinematics and increasingly complex and beautiful patch trailers. The majority of these trailers can be chalked up to In-game Cinematic Project Director Terran Gregory, who has been toiling away on bringing us the very best of in game machinima since Burning Crusade. In Warlords of Draenor, those in game cinematics take a giant leap forward, featured in nearly every zone of the new expansion -- and with new models galore, they've never looked better.

As the launch of Warlords marches ever closer, we had the opportunity to finally sit down and have a spoiler-free chat with Terran about the cinematics of Warlords -- as well as his beginnings with Blizzard, and the progress of cinematics from mere machinima trailers to in game marvels of technical prowess.

Georgia Football: Game-by-Game Predictions for the Month of November

We are heading into the final month of the college football regular season, and the Georgia Bulldogs are trying to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.

As of right now, they are in good position. They lead the SEC East and have only one loss, which gives them the right to make a case for being one of the best one-loss teams.

But before the Bulldogs can think of the national title (or an SEC title for that matter), they will need to do well in their last five games, which are all played in the month of November. Will the Bulldogs keep the hot streak going? Will a team like Florida or Auburn cool them off?

Here are game-by-game predictions for the Bulldogs in the month of November.

Rob Gronkowski's Fantasy Trade Value, Updated Outlook Heading into Week 9

It was a tempered start to 2014 for Rob Gronkowski, but now that he's fully healthy, the New England Patriots tight end is performing at the ridiculous pace that fantasy general managers have come to expect from him.

In Week 8, Gronkowski was at his best. He caught all nine passes thrown to him—three of which went for touchdowns, tying a career high—and amassed 149 yards receiving in a 51-23 blowout of the Chicago Bears.

It's no secret that the 25-year-old wasn't 100 percent to start the season, and that certainly stalemated his impact both in games and in fantasy. But now that he's a full go and back to his regular level of production, he's set to reenter that short list of players who can be counted on to stuff the fantasy stats every single week.

During the lopsided win over the Bears, Gronkowski looked his best in 2014, according to NFL.com's Albert Breer:

The storyline of Tom Brady not having enough weapons has been beaten to death, but ever since the win over the Bengals, New England's offense has been firing, and Gronkowski is a main reason. He was targeted at least nine times in each of those four games.

His role was significantly reduced early in the season to a red-zone target, as he caught a touchdown in three of the first four games but didn't go over 44 yards in any of them. Since then, he's averaging 102 yards receiving and a touchdown per game.

Take a look at his production over the last few games:

Gronkowski's size and elite ability to come down with the ball hadn't gone anywhere with his injury, but those incredible feats and freakish athletic plays became rare. Both of which have been on display as of late, with Gronkowski running a perfectly executed goal-line fade and ripping off a 46-yard touchdown largely with his legs.

Simply watching Gronk get back to making those plays has almost everyone expecting dominance from him for the rest of the year. Andrew Garda of NJ.com tried to talk some folks into giving up the tight end, who is certainly making his fantasy GMs happy:

In reality, the time to trade Gronkowski has come and gone. Failing to reach his typical production early in 2014 might have had some owners looking for a deal. But with Gronkowski notching his first multi-touchdown game of the season in Week 8 and a few more likely to come, fantasy GMs shouldn't take anything less than top-10 overall fantasy player in return for him.

Gronkowski's revival is coming at the perfect time for the Patriots, because they face a brutal upcoming schedule. They host the Broncos and will enjoy a Week 10 bye before facing Indianapolis, Detroit, Green Bay and San Diego.

Don't be surprised if he continues to go off despite facing an improved Broncos defense in Week 9. Antonio Gates caught two touchdowns against Denver in Week 8, and despite the Chargers tight end's incredible season in his own right, Gronkowski will be even harder to contain.

But you don't need a favorable matchup to convince yourself to plug Gronkowski into the starting lineup. All it really takes at this point is proof that he's healthy, and fantasy GMs certainly have that after his three-touchdown explosion. His numbers will come regardless of the matchup, and it would be a huge mistake to leave him benched for any game.
