Sunday Morning Funnies: Gnomish Investigation Agency

Sunday Morning Funnies Gnomish Investigation Agency SUN
Sunday Morning Funnies is your weekly list of WoW-related web comics.

Every week, SMF has been featuring a regularly updating web comic about, or inspired by, World of Warcraft. This week, meet The Gnomish Investigation Agency:

The Gnomish Investigation Agency is written and created by Scott, who is, among other things, an anthropology student. Scott started the comic as a fun project for himself and his guild, and it evolved from there. He uses iPhoto, Comic Life 2 and Image Tricks to create the comic, but may branch out to other programs in the future. Everything is shot in-game.

The comic itself is about a gnomish private detective by the name of Mr. Wizworth Coggling, who, after witnessing various tragedies befall his people, decides to form an agency to help gnomes who have fallen on tough times. The motto: "We make your big problems seem small!"

Other characters include Dr. Fizton Lightspanner and a mysterious, top-hatted gnome.

The Gnomish Investigation Agency updates once or twice weekly.

Video: First 2014 Mazda3 ad appears

If we judge by your comments on our recent announcement post about the new Mazad3, you Autoblog readers approve, pretty wholeheartedly, about the redesign efforts happening over at Mazda. Pressed for an opinion, we'd be forced to admit that we find the new 3 quite fetching our own selves.

To add fuel to the fast-burning fire then, Mazda has gone ahead and dropped a 15-second pseudo commercial on YouTube, showing a very rendered Mazda3 in a very rendered driving environment. The short spot is really just slightly more dynamic than the images of the car, but there is a spot of mystery to it, as well.

Right at the start of the video, an interior shot of the car shows a transparent display screen of some kind, rising from the top of the 3's dash. An interesting choice, considering Mazda has bestowed an actual center-mounted display in on the hatchback's dash-top - albeit one that doesn't look like a clear piece of glass. Take a look below, and while you're there, check out a just-released official video of the Mazda3's reveal in New York.

Study: New US survey says diesel cost of ownership lower than gas

Bosch Clean Diesel

It's cheaper to drive a diesel-powered vehicle than a gas-powered vehicle over the course of three to five years, according to a new study commissioned by Robert Bosch LLC - a company that makes plenty of diesel engine parts - using data compiled by The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. The savings stem not just from improved fuel efficiency but also overall fuel costs and better retention of value, and take into account the added purchase price of a diesel engine over its gasoline counterpart.

According to the study, "most of the savings are in the $2000 to $6000 range." The highest return on investment comes from the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. Buyers of a diesel GL will save a shocking $13,514 over the course of three years and $15,619 in five. Another star performer is the Volkswagen Golf TDI, which can save its owner more than $5,000 over three years. The full study can be found in PDF form at this link, and a press release with a summary of some of its findings can be seen below.

NoteSuite could replace Evernote, Skitch, Reminders, PDF apps and more

NoteSuite is available for Mac and iPad, and despite the lack of an iPhone client it is putting a number of apps on notice. In particular, a lot of the stuff I do with Evernote just got replaced by NoteSuite -- and I don't have to pay a subscription to do any of them. NoteSuite is a suite, in a way, but also a tightly integrated application with a ton of well thought out, useful and efficient tools. Imagine a PDF annotation app, note-taking app, reminder app, drawing app and outliner rolled into one. While there are a number of "multi-tool" note apps out there, a few features put NoteSuite far ahead of the competition.

Taking notes

Almost everything you need to take notes in NoteSuite is there: typing text is a breeze and the drawing tools are executed flawlessly. I liked being able to easily slice up an image. If you like annotating images, you can do this easily and there's a "handwriting" mode that allows you to draw words but keep them shrunk down, just as you'd see in Use Your Handwriting (a simple to-do app my daughter seems to love). It's a clever solution to the problem of handwriting on a digital screen. Little touches like drawings and handwriting remaining connected to text make a big difference in everyday use, and reduce the frustration of keeping your notes the way you like them.

NoteSuite could replace Evernote, Skitch, Reminders, PDF apps and more

While apps like MagicalPad offer mind mapping tools in addition to text and drawing tools, NoteSuite focuses more on metadata. You can tag notes, add links between words in notes (much as you would do in VoodooPad), or let NoteSuite's AI look for relationships between words. Everything can be sorted and filtered in ways I've not seen before in such an app.

The outlining tools are impressive, although I can see these getting slightly more robust with time (think OmniOutliner). Items can be easily re-arranged in a list, and you can drag and drop bullets, which can expand and contract when needed.

In addition to drawing and text, you can import photos, do some light editing or lots of annotating (although it's still not quite as robust as Skitch). You can record audio notes and put them in your documents.

As with some other note apps, you can easily throw these various elements together in one document, so photos, drawings, text and audio all coexist happily in your notes, plus it's easy to move outlines and to-do items around in your documents, meaning action items are no longer off in another app. Linking tasks and notes in such a way is a powerful feature!

NoteSuite could replace Evernote, Skitch, Reminders, PDF apps and more

There's also a great web clipper, allowing you to grab a stripped down version of a web page or the entire page itself, handy for research and design.

Data is king

Most note-taking apps offer some limited search tools. NoteSuite makes search a fundamental part of your workflow, as there's AI built in to look for keywords and link them accordingly. You can turn this off or add your own links as well. Plus there are "Active" folders, which work a lot like smart folders on the Mac, keeping related items in one place. Between tags, these intelligent folders and a robust search engine, you will likely never lose a note ever again. A lot of the intelligent filtering and search tools remind me of the best parts in DEVONthink, which is pretty amazing given the power of that software. You can also create plain old folders and cram whatever you like into those.

Also, with notes and tasks and outlines all in one app and the AI in NoteSuite, making the connection between research and "what to do next" has never been easier. Power users are going to be thrilled that they won't have to keep switching between apps, and duplicating effort when trying to turn data into action items.

GTD inside

NoteSuite's creator told me it is "fully GTD compliant" and while I haven't fully tested his claim, I can say all the things you'd need are there. You can set reminders, create start and due dates by using natural language and even consolidate to-do items. Yes, you can assign priority levels to items as well.

NoteSuite could replace Evernote, Skitch, Reminders, PDF apps and more

There are some limited collaboration tools, but they are largely limited to one-way communications. This isn't a project management tool, but if you are working in a small group the basics should suffice.

NoteSuite won't replace OmniFocus for me, but having my research and related tasks in one place is useful. I can also send to-do items to my calendar, create repeating items, and using NoteSuite's powerful search tool, look up all related items quickly and easily.

Sync without subscriptions

The iPad and Mac versions use iCloud to sync. As the creator told me, you should own your own data. That means changes occur almost instantly across platforms, and you always have offline access to your notes.

The downside to iCloud is how Apple has chosen to silo your data. iCloud isn't really a collaboration service, like Dropbox can be. The NoteSuite team might be considering other sync services, however, so keep an eye out for updates if you must store your stuff elsewhere.

Who needs Office?

If you work in an environment where you're getting Word and PowerPoint documents, get ready to smile. NoteSuite allows you to embed slides in notes. Office docs are converted to PDF, and can be annotated just like any PDF in NoteSuite. iWork files do the same.

PDF tools

There's no shortage of PDF tools out there, so NoteSuite didn't try to include every single feature of every single app out there. Instead, the features in NoteSuite are carefully implemented and work great.

You can create comment balloons, bookmarks, a table of contents, and of course draw on a document, highlight and underline text and so forth. A handy feature: excerpts of highlights, so you can quickly jump around to the places in a PDF where you made notes. You can sign documents, and flatten the document for sharing. While I'd like to see more revision support for collaboration, you can duplicate notes so you keep an original and have a marked-up version for sharing.

Collaboration

The only chink in NoteSuite's armor would be collaboration. While these tools aren't as robust as the impressive data tools, annotation and note creation tools, there are some there. You can assign tasks to colleagues via email, for example. By adding a task to your calendar you can also collaborate. Being able to flatten and send PDF's is an obvious win for collaborators, but services like Evernote still have a slight advantage in the form of shared notebooks. I think these features will expand in future versions, so be on the look out for updates.

Design that gets out of the way

The thing that has caused me to abandon more note apps than anything is a kitchen sink mentality to features, and a cluttered interface as a result. While I love the tools in MagicalPad, for example, there's a lot of "mystery meat" buttons and in general too many tools distracting me from what I'm doing at any given time. NoteSuite pays close attention to what you are doing, and presents the tools you need for that task.

NoteSuite could replace Evernote, Skitch, Reminders, PDF apps and more

Never mind that the design is exceptionally well done. The icons are beautiful, and everything is logically arranged on the screen. The Mac version even allows you to hide the sidebar, so it looks more like Pages than Evernote. This is a good thing. Evernote on the Mac is three panels at once, and they are always there. NoteSuite lets you work in a document before going into a side panel to look up notes, organize your work or otherwise mine data. It's a refreshing approach, really.

Not only does less clutter help you focus, but NoteSuite's modes hide the tools you don't need. I realize some users might like to have everything at their fingertips at all times, but I found switching between text and drawing modes to be a refreshing way to think less about what I was doing and focus more on doing it -- a neuroscience-approved method for getting a lot of stuff done.

Conclusion

I've only scratched the surface of NoteSuite's power. Individually, PDF annotation, text linking and task management tools maybe aren't such a big deal. Putting all of those tools together and then some? That's a big deal indeed. If you've ever been frustrated by having to bounce among several apps to get your work connected to your research, you will be thrilled at NoteSuite's powerful toolset. The tools in NoteSuite are wrapped in a clean, uncluttered workspace, making it all the more powerful. And with a Mac and iPad app that sync in the background, you can take your data wherever you go. I'm hoping NoteSuite adds an iPhone companion at some point, because I still use Evernote as a capture tool, and I think even a stripped-down version of NoteSuite would be handy for this purpose.

Considering the low cost of NoteSuite (the iPad version is currently on sale for $1.99, the Mac version is currently a mere $4.99) and the focus on getting things done, I can't imagine most users would be unhappy with the software. NoteSuite is simply one of the most powerful, well thought out applications I've seen on Mac and iPad in a long time.

Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers available now on iOS

I got to see Magic 2014 in action back in May of this year, but the game is now available both on the iOS App Store and on Steam for both Mac and PC. (Update: Turns out it's not available for the Mac. Last year's version wasn't either, unfortunately.)

The biggest new feature of this year's go-round is the "sealed play" mode, which allows players to build a deck using cards from a set of sealed random booster packs. Usually in these games, you have to use one of the prebuilt decks, but the sealed play mode provides another option for experienced players (or anyone looking ot mix things up). Unfortunately, you only get a couple of deck slots to build in, and you can't reset them, so you have to buy more if you need them. Kind of a cheap move on Wizards of the Coast's part.

There are also brand-new cards in this game, and in fact some of the cards are available to play here even before they arrive in the paper game later on this year. Magic 2014 is a free download on the iPad, and then you can buy the whole game (or separate decks) via in-app purchase for $9.99.

Knee Injuries An Increased Risk For Sailors -- On Land

The knees are the body part that is injured the most by dinghy sailors. The injuries are primarily due to overstrain and most often occur during physical training. This was shown in a study at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. "Studies have been made on the risk of injury for many sports, but not for dinghy sailing. With more knowledge, we can create recommendations that will prevent sailors from getting injured," says Lena Bøymo-Having, who conducted the study at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg...

Substance Abuse And High-Glycemic Foods May Trigger The Same Brain Mechanism Tied To Addiction

Consuming highly processed carbohydrates can cause excess hunger and stimulate brain regions involved in reward and cravings, according to a Boston Children's Hospital research team led by David Ludwig, MD, PhD director, New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center. These findings suggest that limiting these "high-glycemic index" foods could help obese individuals avoid overeating. Patterns and evolution of ACGT repeat cis-element landscape across four plant genomes

Background:
Transcription factor binding is regulated by several interactions, primarily involving cis-element binding. These binding sites maintain specificity by means of their sequence, and other additional factors such as inter-motif distance and spacer specificity. The ACGT core sequence has been established as a functionally important cis-element which frequently regulates gene expression in synergy with other cis-elements. In this study, we used two monocotyledonous -- Oryza sativa and Sorghum bicolor, and two dicotyledonous species -- Arabidopsis thaliana and Glycine max to analyze the conservation of co-occurring ACGT core elements in plant promoters with respect to spacer distance between them. Using data generated from Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa, we also identified conserved regions across all spacers and possible conditions regulating gene promoters with multiple ACGT cis-elements.
Results:
Our data indicated specific predominant spacer lengths between co-occurring ACGT elements, but these lengths were not universally conserved across all species under analysis. However, the frequency distribution indicated local regions of high correlation among monocots and dicots. Sequence specificity data clearly revealed a preference for G at the first and C at the terminal position of a spacer sequence, suggesting that the G-box motif is the most prevalent for the ACGT class of promoters. Using gene expression databases, we also observed trends suggesting that co-occurring ACGT elements are responsible for gene regulation in response to exogenous stress. Conservation in patterns of ACGT (N) ACGT among orthologous genes also indicated the possibility that emergence of functional significance across species was a result of parallel evolution of these cis-elements.
Conclusions:
Although the importance of ACGT elements has been acknowledged for several plant species, ours is the first study that attempts to compare their occurrence across four species and analyze conservation among them. The apparent preference for particular spacer distances suggest that these motifs might be implicated in important physiological functions which are yet to be identified. Variations in correlation patterns among monocots and dicots might arise out of differences in transcriptional regulation in the two classes. In accordance with literature, we established the involvement of co-occurring ACGT elements in stress responses and showed how this regulation differs with variation in the ACGT (N) ACGT motif. We believe that our study will be an essential resource in determining optimum spacer length and spacer sequence between ACGT elements for promoter design in future.

NBA Free Agents 2013: Chris Paul and Biggest Names on The Market

So maybe Donald Sterling won't ruin the Los Angeles Clippers after all.

At the end of May, ESPN's Chris Broussard reported Chris Paul was upset about being scapegoated in the firing of Vinny Del Negro and possibly wanted out of town. You can't really blame Paul if he wanted Del Negro out of town considering how out of his depth the coach looked at times.

Now, all is right on the red and blue half of Los Angeles after the hiring of Doc Rivers. Where Paul once looked like he was truly going to test the open market, it now seems a foregone conclusion he's sticking with the Clippers.

ESPN's Marc Stein sent out a couple of tweets to sum up the situation well. The first is a retweet from the Orange Country Register's Dan Woike, and the second is his opinion of the situation.

On one hand it's a bit of a shame to see Paul stay with the Clippers because it would have been fun to see the best point guard in the league available to the highest bidder. You don't see that too often.

On the other, if there's a franchise that deserves to give its fans a winner, it's the Clippers. So it's good to see the organization hold on to its best asset.

Although Paul won't be leaving town, there are plenty of free agents whose situations will be very fun to track. In a class that has a few top players and then a bunch of marginal ones, these four players stand out.

Dwight Howard

Stein also reported the Houston Rockets are the favorites to land Dwight Howard this offseason.

The Los Angeles Lakers have really brought out the big guns when it comes to their recruitment process, putting up various billboards and banners across the city to try and keep the big man.

The most surprising thing about the Lakers' campaign is that for a franchise as storied and successful as theirs, they still feel the need to go to such extreme lengths to court a player.

All fans can agree the sooner Howard makes a decision, the better. It was unbearable watching him constantly waffle on his future with the Orlando Magic, only to have a press conference outlining how he was going to stay and how "loyal" he was, only to then bolt for the Lakers shortly thereafter.

Howard is a great defender. There's no doubting that. His offense is a major problem. He hasn't developed a ton of moves and hasn't become a dominant big man as a result.

Still, he's the best center in the league and would radically alter whatever team he signs with this offseason.

Josh Smith

Josh Smith is the proverbial jack of all trades and a master of none. He's got loads of talent, but for a variety of reasons, it hasn't come together for him.

Much like Howard, Smith excels on the defensive end of the floor. He's recorded 1,440 blocks in his career, which is even more impressive considering he's only 6'9".

Of course, when you get Smith, you trade his great defense for his sub-par offense. This year, in particular, was a low for the forward, as his offensive win shares was actually at -0.3. He actually hurt his team with his offense more than he helped it.

The biggest thing with Smith is his propensity to spot up and take mid-range jumpers. If a new team can cut that out of his game, it will get an All-Star-caliber forward.

Andre Iguodala

There isn't a better perimeter defender in the league than Andre Iguodala. Some might be surprised that he chose to opt out of the final year of his deal. But his value is never going to be any higher than it is now. This time next year, he'll be a year older, and it's unlikely Iguodala would have done anything more to impress a team than he did this past season.

The biggest issue with Iguodala is where he fits in on a team. You get the feeling somebody like the Detroit Pistons will give him a huge deal that he can't possibly live up to.

Iguodala is best as a very good team's secondary option. He's not the kind of player who can be a team's go-to guy on the offensive end.

Brandon Jennings

Brandon Jennings is one of the biggest X-factors in this draft. He's got loads of talent and can do so many things on the court. His attitude is the biggest thing holding back his career, though.

The Milwaukee Bucks have a very intriguing decision to make.

NBA insider Brett Poirier reported that Jennings wants to play in a "big market."

But the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Charles Gardner reported the Bucks are planning to bring back the point guard for next season.

As a restricted free agent, Jennings will have a hard time leaving the Bucks, since they can match any offer another team makes. If they keep him, though, the Bucks risk having a player that is not happy with the franchise and will only cause problems as a result.

If Jennings leaves, Milwaukee risks losing one of the best young point guards in the league and regretting it for years to come.

Motorsports: 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Practice Day 3

2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb

The third practice day of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is done. While the other classes got running time on the middle and top sections of the course, qualifying times were set on the bottom section of the course for the Open, Open Wheel, Electric, Exhibition and Vintage classes.

Everyone managed to keep it on the black stuff today, Greg Tracy setting the fastest time ahead of Hiroshi Masuoka, both men driving the Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution II four-wheel-drive prototype. Not even half a second behind Masuoka came Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima in his Monster Sport E-Runner, who has taken about 18 seconds off his time since the first practice day. Rod Millen was the fourth fastest on the day in his Toyota TMG EV POO2.

Topping the Open Wheel class was Clint Vahsholtz, followed by Donner Billingsley, Andy Figueroa and Rodney O'Maley. The only driver in that class not to be given a time today was Dan Novembre. Kenshiro Gushi took the Exhibition class today as his Lexus IS F CCS-R made it up the mountain in 4:27.248, followed by Sage Marie in the Honda CR-Z at 5:19.591. Simon Pagenaud and his Honda Odyssey weren't classified.

Layne Schranz nabbed the top time for Pikes Peak Open runners in his 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Randy Schranz behind him in his Shelby Cobra, Jeff MacPherson right behind in his Porsche 914-8. The old-timers in the Vintage division were lead by Christopher Lennon in a 1973 Porsche 911 RSR, Ralf Christensson two seconds behind him in a 1967 Ford Fastback GT350. The final times and running order will be released after tomorrow's qualifying, at about 5 pm Mountain time. As of now, five cars have dropped out - in some cases literally - of the original 69-car field, and 83 bikes remain of the 86 entrants.

Further up the mountain the Time Attack and Unlimited runners were practicing in the middle section of the course. Paul Dallenbach led the Time Attack field in Rhys Millen's Hyundai Genesis Coupe from last year with a time of 2:33, then came the two Porsches of Jeff Zwart at 2:38 and David Donner at 2:40

At the top of the field, the Sébastien Loeb again led the timesheets with a 2:12, and was again followed by Romain Dumas at 2:26. Third place went to Dayraut in the monster Mini at 2:29.

Rhys Millen hasn't got a mention yet because he didn't run today. His Hyundai PM580T had an engine problem last night and the team decided to put in a brand new motor. They only finished doing that this morning while the others were running, then spent the day testing at an oval/road course near Colorado Springs to make sure everything's good to go for tomorrow. He'll be back on the mountain tomorrow, and we'll be back with a report then.

Tomorrow's practice will have all of the bike divisions qualifying on the bottom of the course while the other classes get their settings dialed in for race day on Sunday. To watch or listen to the race live on Sunday, June 30, Red Bull TV will be streaming the entire event here, and you can listen on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM and 1240 AM. If you insist on total coverage, feel free to follow the Pikes Peak Facebook and Twitter pages. For live timing and results, go here. If you lose all those links, just go to the Pikes Peak site and click the Follow Live tab at the top of the page. WoW Insider Round Table: Proving Grounds

This week, in episode five of the WoW Insider Round Table, the panelists are looking at Proving Grounds, one of the new features coming in patch 5.4. Dawn Moore, Matt Low, Kristin Marshall, Joe Perez and Olivia Grace discuss various elements of the new feature, from the basis of speculation as, at the time of recording, it is not yet accessible on the PTR.

We wonder exactly how it will play out on the PTR for healers, tanks and DPS and what the content will offer in the way of challenges, before moving on to discuss whether it will really be an effective training tool for healers and tanks. The panel largely agree that, for the initial learning stages, it will definitely serve as an excellent method to learn the basics of tanking and healing in a pressure-free environment. The team went on to discuss ways in which Proving Grounds could also be useful for more high-level skills for these specs, before discussing the use of them as a recruitment tool.

We hope you enjoyed this Round Table, and if you have questions or ideas you would like us to discuss in future let us know!

Grading Milwaukee Bucks' Draft-Day Decisions

As the curtains closed on the 2013 NBA draft Thursday night, many fans of the Milwaukee Bucks were probably left wondering where the team's choices left them in terms of the future. Clearly the moves made on draft night need time to unfold, but it's never too early to hand out grades.

Here's a deeper look at how the additions of Giannis Adetokunbo and Nate Wolters impact the team.

First Round: Giannis Adetokunbo (SF, Greece)

With their first-round selection, the Bucks went off the board a bit and picked the 18-year-old Greek prospect Giannis Adetokunbo.

It's no secret that picks like this are almost always high-risk, high-reward.

In this instance, General Manager John Hammond deemed Adetokunbo worthy of taking that risk with the first post-lottery selection.

However, it's not a great choice.

Taking unproven, international talents has become a bit of a hipster trend among league GMs and it's a bit baffling.

The emergence of players like Manu Ginobili and Pau Gasol—among others—have prompted teams to pay much closer attention to talent outside of the United States, almost to a fault.

At a lengthy 6'9", there's no denying the potential Adetokunbo possesses, but it's also hard to deny the likeliness he'll ever fulfill it isn't very high.

With other equally talented players who have more experience and, in turn, a greater wealth of basketball knowledge, and who have played against better competition, the choice of taking the young Greek becomes a big reach.

As the pick came through, the question of whether or not Adetokunbo would join the team immediately or spend more time developing his skills overseas was likely going through the heads of many.

According to Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Hammond sounded set on him playing for the Bucks next season during a post-draft press conference:

But Hammond made it clear he wants the young player to be in Milwaukee next season.

“He loves the game,” Hammond said. “He has a great smile and a great skill set.

“There is a real transition period for him. You’re talking about a kid who has only been out of the country (Greece) one time. And that was a few weeks ago when he played with the Greek national team.

“He wants to have his family here with him, and we’re going to work hard to have that happen.

“The sooner we can get him on the floor, the better it’s going to be. You look at it and say, ‘Is it going to be a D-League type situation?’ I hope not. The best thing to do is just keep him right here with us, be around NBA players, NBA games, NBA travel. Let him grow and develop.

This would lead one to thinking that the Bucks are going into a rebuilding mode, but as Gardner also pointed out earlier this month, owner Herb Kohl said that isn't being considered.

If we're to believe Kohl, it's not very plausible to think Adetokunbo will see the court.

And that leads to the question of whether or not he'll ever see minutes on an NBA court.

So while he might have the potential most scouts like, he wasn't the best choice for the Bucks at No. 15 overall.

Second Round (via Philadelphia): Nate Wolters (PG, South Dakota State)

With the No. 43 pick of the draft, the Bucks drafted Providence shooting guard Ricky Ledo, but quickly traded him and a 2014 second-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for the services of point guard Nate Wolters.

Making that move just may have salvaged the draft for Milwaukee.

Wolters averaged 18.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game during his four-year tenure with the Jackrabbits. He also proved he can be an efficient player by shooting 45 percent for his college career.

Despite not standing out in terms of his athleticism, Wolters is fundamentally sound and does the little things that could potentially lead to him becoming a legitimate starting point guard for the Bucks.

Not to mention, he has adequate size.

Unlike some collegiate guards who make the leap to the NBA and are immediately faced with the challenge of being undersized, at 6'4", Wolters doesn't have to worry about that.

With an impressive offensive arsenal, the transition on that side of the court shouldn't be of concern for Bucks fans. He won't blow by defenders, but he is crafty and is efficient, so finishing around the rim and in the lane shouldn't be an issue.

It's the defensive side of the ball that may hold him back somewhat.

Without elite quickness, Wolters' ability to defend could potentially become an issue. As the tempo of the league continues to accelerate and guards keep getting quicker, he may find himself at a disadvantage.

However, good team defense can often mask subpar individual defense, so how the Bucks move forward as a team defensively is a major factor in Wolters' success.

It's hard to pinpoint what his potential is, but acquiring him on draft day helped salvage Milwaukee's draft.

Overall Draft Grade: C

In the end, the Bucks had an average draft.

The selection of Adetokunbo is a major gamble and if he never sees many minutes, it's going to turn into a wasted pick when there was other talent on the board.

However, the addition of Wolters via trade helps alleviate the bad taste of their first pick. He's a player who could become an everyday starter down the road and if Brandon Jennings ends up elsewhere this summer, the move becomes even more important.

Community-Wide Approach Effective In Addressing Child Obesity

Community wide interventions hold promise as an effective approach to reducing childhood obesity rates according to new research from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University and Tufts University School of Medicine. An analysis of data from the first two school years (20 calendar months) of the Shape Up Somerville: Eat Smart Play Hard? intervention showed that schoolchildren in Somerville, Massachusetts gained less weight and were less likely to be obese or overweight than schoolchildren in two similar control communities...

Daily iPhone App: Where's My Mickey combines Disney's old with its new

Disney has come up with yet another way to wring a new title out of its megahit Where's My Water. This time, it combines the "swipe to clean" gameplay with one of the company's oldest properties. Yes, they've pulled out Mickey Mouse for an iOS game, and Where's My Mickey? is available on the App Store right now.

If you've played any of the other Where's My Water games, you'll know how this goes. Swipe across the screen to clear paths through dirt and funnel water into certain areas. In this case, you must direct water to Mickey (sporting his new retro look) so he can make lemonade. There are some new mechanics here as well, including clouds that can catch and drop water when tapped, and wind that can blow those clouds around the stage. Just like its sibling games, Where's My Mickey has lots of collectibles to find, and plenty of stages to go through.

Despite this core game getting plenty old at this point (I know you've got another great original title in you somewhere, Disney -- please find it), Where's My Mickey is actually charming, both because it does bring new elements and new puzzles to the gameplay, and because it's got some very silly (and well-made) cutscenes telling the story of this new Mickey and his lemonade stand.

Where's My Mickey is US$0.99 cents on the iPhone and $1.99 on the iPad, with an extra set of episodes available for another dollar. If you've had enough of drawing in the dirt via Where's My Water, this go-round probably won't convince you otherwise. But for those still interested in moving liquid around, bringing Mickey in was a good move on Disney's part. Hopefully the company will start up a whole new track soon, instead of treading over this gameplay yet again.

Wimbledon Schedule 2013: Day 6 Matchups, Predictions and Analysis

Despite rain showers on Thursday and Friday, the 2013 Wimbledon Championships are heating up as Saturday marks the conclusion of the first week of play at the All England Club.

Third-round action will continue on Saturday as the schedule features several intriguing showdowns, including a matchup between a 2012 finalist Agnieszka Radwanska and American teenager Madison Keys.

In addition, men's and women's top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams will both be on display and looking to earn a berth in Monday's round of 16.

Here we'll get you set for Day 6 at Wimbledon.

Notable Day 6 Singles Matchups

David Ferrer (4) vs. Alexandr Dolgopolov (25) Court No. 1

Laura Robson vs. Marina Erakovic Court No. 2

Italicized matches are in progress and will resume on Saturday. Click here to view the entire order of play courtesy of Wimbledon.com.

Day 6 Predictions

Serena Williams Will Cruise Into Round of 16

Five-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams will take on 42-year-old Kimiko Date-Krumm on Saturday at the All England Club looking to earn her seventh straight berth in the round of 16 of the season's most prestigious major.

Although Date-Krumm has been awfully impressive to this point, becoming the oldest woman in the Open era to reach the third round at Wimbledon, she'll be no match for Williams on Day 6.

The top seed and defending champion is in the midst of a 33-match winning streak, and is playing superb tennis at the moment. Williams has yet to drop a set in this tournament, and is playing her unbeatable power game to perfection.

She's winning roughly 85 percent of her first-serve points thus far at Wimbledon and boasts 55 total winners to just 20 total unforced errors heading into the third round. Kudos to Date-Krumm for making history this summer, but Williams is unlikely to show her any mercy on Saturday.

Prediction: Serena Williams, 6-2, 6-1

Novak Djokovic Set to Roll Into Second Week

2011 Wimbledon champion and men's overall top seed Novak Djokovic will be back on Centre Court on Saturday taking on 28th-seeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy, who has never been past the third round at the All England Club.

And while upsets have plagued the men's draw throughout the first week at SW19, look for Djokovic to roll to a straight-sets win to advance to the round of 16 for the fifth straight year at Wimbledon.

Like Williams, the 26-year-old Serb has yet to lose a set and is serving exceptionally well heading into the weekend. Djokovic won a ridiculous 91 percent of his first-serve points in his second-round win over American Bobby Reynolds on Thursday, and he has 81 winners to his name through two matches.

While Chardy has dropped just two sets coming in, he should be over-matched against Djokovic, an all-court player who is also a stud in the return game.

Look for Nole to win easily in the day's final match on Centre Court.

Prediction: Novak Djokovic, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4

Agnieszka Radwanska Will Survive American Teenager

One of Saturday's most underrated matches will feature 2012 finalist Agnieszka Radwanska taking on 18-year-old challenger Madison Keys, who comes in with loads of confidence despite never having played in the Wimbledon main draw before this year.

Neither player has shown signs of weakness through the first two rounds, but the edge has to go to the 24-year-old Pole based on experience alone. She's reached the quarterfinals here in three of the past five years and came within a set of winning the title a year ago.

If the moment is going to be too big for anyone, it's Keys. This is only her fifth career appearance in the main draw of a Grand Slam and only the second time she's ever reached the third round at a Slam.

The powerful teen has a bright future ahead of her, but Radwanska is the fourth-best women's player in the world and this is Wimbledon.

Prediction: Agnieszka Radwanska 7-6 (7-4), 6-4

WoW Moviewatch: Nobody's Quest: Episode 5

We return to the exposition and story-driven drama of Nobody's Quest with Ring of Fire. The heroes have finally discovered the final villain, the goal of their quest, and the precipice of their final showdown. With a little betrayal and a lot of confusion, Mortimer reaches a startling realization about what's really going on.

I've enjoyed this series immensely. I hope Ninth Batter feels emboldened to keep going after this storyline. The first attempts at storytelling are always the roughest, and I think there's more than enough meat in the ensemble cast to grow the world.

Mazdaspeed3 rendering

Mazda showed off its brand-new 2014 Mazda3 at an event in New York City earlier this week, and we have to say, at first blush, we're pretty impressed. It looks fantastic - like a smaller, hatch'd version of the already sleek Mazda6 sedan that went on sale earlier this year. And with a 200-pound weight reduction, efficient Skyactiv gasoline engines underhood and Mazda's usual focus on driving dynamics above all, we're willing to bet that the new Three will be a pretty decent steer.

Of course, being enthusiasts, we're already setting our sights on the next-generation Mazdaspeed3, rendered here by artist Theo Chin. To our eyes, it's not a very imaginative transformation, but is likely a spot-on rendering for what the next car will look like. And it's really, really hot.

While Mazda hasn't exactly confirmed that the new Speed3 will be coming, sources within the automaker have indicated that a third-generation version of the MS3 is under development. Thing is, the Japanese automaker wants to give the standard Mazda3 some time to grow in the market, so we might not see the new Speed3 until something like 2016, with a possible diesel version to arrive before then.

The big unknown, however, is what will power the new Speed3. Of course, we're big fans of the DISI 2.3-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder that's currently used, producing 263 horsepower, but Mazda could certainly be developing something new. A turbo-four setup is a given, and power will likely fall closer to 275 hp for the new car. Bring it on.
