Todd McShay 2011 NFL Mock Draft Says Houston Texans Get Pass Rush Help With UNC's Robert Quinn
If you watched Houston at all last season, you know how bad the Texans were in the secondary last year.
Offensively they have little to worry about, but defensively there are major needs at almost every level.
They took a cornerback in the first round last year so that may steady their hand at jumping on someone like Nebraska's Prince Amukamara.
A secondary's best friend is a dominant pass rush and the Texans hardly have that. New defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will be looking for help immediately.
McShay's Pick: Robert Quinn, DE/OLB, UNC
Scenario 1: Taking Quinn is the best-case scenario outside of Miller somehow falling this far. Quinn would be a nice complement to fellow OLB Connor Barwin, one of the best ILB tandems in the league in DeMeco Ryans and Brian Cushing, and difference-maker Mario Williams up front.
Scenario 2: If Quinn is gone then a 5-technique like Watt or California's Cameron Jordan would be the pick.
Scenario 3: The Texans could be forced to weigh value against philosophy here if the players above are gone. Amukamara would be the value pick but I tend to think they would lean toward Missouri DE Aldon Smith because new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is determined to upgrade the front seven.
McShay takes the best available player at a position of need for the Texans here and I can't argue at all.

This could make the Houston Texans front seven an actual weapon.
Their linebacking unit would have playmakers at every position and along with their sack master, Mario Williams, they should be able to give their secondary more errant throws.
Quinn is still a work in progress, but he's got as much upside as anyone at the position.
He's got great size, speed and leverage off the edge and he can make life awful for any quarterback or offensive tackle.
McShay is actually right on with both backup scenarios.
I love the Cam Jordan selection and think they would have to consider Aldon Smith before Prince Amukamara.
