NFL Draft 2011: Cincinnati Bengals, Marvin Lewis Likely to Draft Cam Newton?

Marvin Lewis Loves What he Sees in Quarterback Cam Newton

The Cincinnati Bengals seem to be leaning towards selecting Cam Newton with the fourth overall pick, or at least that's what we are being led to believe if head coach Marvin Lewis's comments are any indication.

In fact, according to the USA Today, Marvin Lewis said of Cam, "He's got it...In Cam's case, he's been 'it' three times." That's a big compliment for any coach to give, especially just before the draft, at a time where you don't want to show your cards.

While I agree that Newton does have the potential to be a great pro in the NFL under the right team, I still have my doubts that the Bengals are that team, and probably will so long as Mike Brown owns it or Lewis coaches it.

That's a story for another time though. The real question we all have to ask is simple. Is Marvin Lewis serious about wanting Newton and pretty much telling it to everyone, or is it a bluff to see if any other teams blink?

Personally, I do think the Bengals love what they see in Cam Newton, and while I believe A.J. Green is the frontrunner for that top spot, Newton is in second, and that order could change before draft day.
