Raiders' Desmond Bryant Reportedly Arrested in Miami

Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Desmond Bryant was reportedly arrested in Miami Saturday night, not wide receiver Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys as previously reported, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, via Twitter:

Omar Kelly of The South Florida Sun-Sentinel originally reported it was Dez Bryant that was arrested, later admitting his mistake via Twitter:

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provides the official arrest records that provide details matching those of the Raiders’ defensive lineman:

The charge on the record was criminal mischief, but no further details of the arrest have surfaced at this time.

Bryant is entering his fifth season in the NFL—all with Oakland after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard—and he has blossomed into a versatile lineman that can do it all for the Raiders.

The 27-year-old star amassed four sacks, a forced fumble and 36 combined tackles in 2012, and he stepped up in huge way when veteran Richard Seymour went down with an injury.

Bryant took advantage of that opportunity by playing well and earning a starting spot.

Seymour is likely leaving via free agency this offseason, so as long as the issue that led to Bryant’s arrest isn’t too severe, the team will likely try to bring the defensive tackle back.

The lack of depth on the defensive line will force the Raiders to work with Bryant, and the increased focus on the veteran could be what he needs to mature from this adversity.
