NBA Playoffs 2011: Chicago Bulls Tom Thibodeau Will Win Coach of the Year Award

While the Chicago Bulls are still waiting for their second round playoff matchup against the Atlanta Hawks to get started, they have some great news for the team and city prior to the start of their semifinal playoff matchup.

Tom Thibodeau, rookie head coach of the Chicago Bulls, will be awarded Coach of the Year according to sources.

Thibodeau led the Chicago Bulls to a 62-20 regular season record, best in the NBA.

"Thibs, man, [he's the] coach of the year to me," Derrick Rose said late in the regular season. "Where he's just been on us, holding everybody accountable every time we step on the court. With him, we've just been ballin'. He's making sure we go over everything. And our preparation for the game is important."

The Coach of the Year award has been a hotly contested debate throughout the regular season, but Thibodeau has been in the lead or right behind it for the majority of the year, so this comes as no surprise.

The Chicago Bulls had one of the toughest defenses in the NBA. They held opponents to the lowest average field goal percentage and outrebounded every team they played.

Not to mention, they were second only to the Miami Heat in point differential.

The win is certainly well deserved.
