Liverpool FC Transfers: Liverpool Set to Sign Benfica's Fabio Coentrao

According to reports in the Portuguese national paper, Correio da Manha, Liverpool have agreed a fee of £25m for Benfica's left back, Fabio Coentrao.

According to a report by Sportsvibe.co.uk, the official signing of the Portuguese would take place in June.

Coentrao has been in excellent form this season for Benfica and first came into recognition after his cameo burst with Portugal in the World Cup in South Africa last summer.

Coentrao has made 35 appearances for Benfica this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in all competitions that includes the Europa League.

Fellow countryman and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is a fan of the player and was also trying to lure him to Bernabeu.

According to Super Sport, AS said Real were prepared to pay up to €25 million for the 23-year-old Portuguese international, although Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira was trying to hold out for €30 million.

The left-back slot is a priority for Kenny Dalglish next season and he along with director of football Damien Cormolli, have been linked with a number of left-backs that include Newcastle's Jose Enrique, Everton's Leighton Baines and Arsenal's Gael Clichy amongst others.

Coentrao can also operate on the wings and if this news is true, then Kenny Dalglish would surely be a relieved man.
