The Houston Texans lost starting quarterback Matt Schaub in the second quarter of their game Sunday against the Rams with an ankle injury, and the prospect of him missing an extended amount of time would certainly shake up the team's season?for better or worse.
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported the injury on Twitter:

Schaub has quickly turned into one of the most polarizing players in the NFL this season, throwing an interception returned for a touchdown in four straight games?an all-time league record. However, backup T.J. Yates threw a pick-six of his own upon entering the game and followed it up with another interception.
Down 38-6 early in the fourth quarter against the St. Louis Rams?no, that's not a typo?the once-Super Bowl contending Texans are now sputtering down to the league's cellar at an alarming speed.
There's no hiding that Schaub has had an absolutely dreadful season, but Yates' two picks after entering the game indicate that he might not be the only QB on the roster who can't keep the ball out of defenders' hands.
The QB position is a huge problem for Houston, and one that is keeping it from being a contender. With Schaub, the team was able to have at least a few moments of promise, but his mistakes were too plentiful and untimely for his Texans to emerge in big games.
Of course, there's Case Keenum as well, who battled with Yates for the backup spot heading into the season. But he hasn't appeared in a NFL game as of yet.
With many more questions than answers at quarterback, the Texans' offense should only continue to sputter and waste its heaps of talent.
