Fantasy Premier League 2013 Week 6: Players You Must Give Starting Spots

Spent all of Friday sneaking a look at your Premier League fantasy team in work? Still unsure on what changes to make at this late juncture? This fantasy football lark can’t half be a nightmare at times.

Well, we’ll do our best to help you out. Having trawled the respective rosters, prices, fixtures and form, we’ve picked out some of best value players you should include ahead of this weekend.

And YES, there is still time to make your transfers, as the deadline closes at 11:30 a.m. GMT.

So hurry, hurry. Shift out some crocked stars such as Christian Benteke, Daniel Agger and Sergio Aguero and get in some players bound to make an impression in week six.

And if you have a little cash left over, then you can afford yourself a some luxury ahead of the next round of fixtures.

Romelu Lukaku—£7.5 million

If any of the aforementioned strikers remain in your squad, then I would strongly advise you to shift them out immediately and get Lukaku in.

The on-loan Chelsea man transformed a ponderous Everton outfit into a side that looked the business following his introduction at half time against West Ham.

His eye for goal was obvious, as he found himself in some fine positions before eventually powering home the winner; he actually managed to get himself knocked out in the process—I know, I know. I didn’t think it was possible either!

With Nikica Jelavic and Arouna Kone not cutting the mustard, Lukaku looks certain to lead the Everton line on Monday evening. Plus, he’ll be going up against a Newcastle defence that conceded three times against Hull City in their last league outing

So shift out Benteke or Aguero, draft the Belgian in and have a bit left over for next week.

Luke Shaw—£4.7 million

The secret is out the bag when it comes to the young Southampton full-back. He’s now well regarded as one of the best young talents in England and speculation regarding a move to one of the more illustrious English sides has started to surface.

Even so, Shaw remains value at £4.7 million in the fantasy football stakes, especially when you consider that Southampton will be at home to Crystal Palace this weekend.

Palace have showcased little in terms of cutting edge and Mauricio Pochettino’s high-octane, intense, pressing style should see Southampton dominate the ball.

Shaw looks set to secure a clean sheet and if he puts in some of those trademark forays forward, then assists and goals are certainly not out of the question either.

Victor Moses - £6.3 million

With no Coutinho available, the on-loan Chelsea man looks set to make up a front three with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.

There were signs in Liverpool’s 1-0 League Cup defeat Manchester United that these three players could work together to great effect. Their movement in particular was a joy to watch and United had to resort regularly to some last-ditch defending in order to keep the Reds out.

They travel to Sunderland this week, a team who have had better weeks, it is fair to say. The club are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and remain managerless after the sacking of Paolo Di Canio.

Liverpool and Moses should be looking to stamp their authority on the game at the Stadium of Light. Granted, a new face can often rejuvenate a toiling squad, but it can just as easily plunge a team even further into the mire.

Expect Liverpool to get back to winning ways in this one, with the pace, power and finishing ability of Moses central to victory.
