San Diego Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs Preview & Predictions

The San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs face off in NFL Week 4 in a AFC West match up that should help define that divisional race as the year gets rolling.

The Chargers (2-1) were firing on all cylinders before getting thrashed by the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. If Philip Rivers and company can bounce back and prove that game was all about the Falcons' rise to prominence and not about the Chargers "pretender" status, they could remain in control of a weak division. Much of that will depend on Ryan Mathews who is back from his preseason injury, and will look to be a big part of what takes the Chargers past the Chiefs and into the playoffs.

The Chiefs (1-2) have been a big disappointment in 2012 and Romeo Crennel's defense has taken multiple steps back from last year's performance. Matt Cassel, however, looks like the exact same guy he was in 2011, but that isn't good. Jamaal Charles is, truly, the only real bright spot on either side of the ball for the Chiefs, and he'll need some help if the Chiefs want to improve upon their fourth place AFC West finish from last year.
