Melky Cabrera Left Off San Francisco Giants' Postseason Roster

San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera will be left off the team's 25-man playoff roster this October.

This according to the Bay Area Comcast SportsNet's official Twitter account:

Cabrera, who won All-Star Game MVP honors this past summer, is serving a 50-game suspension after testing positive for testosterone. He was batting .346 with 11 home runs at the time of his suspension.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy has recently said that the club's decision on Cabrera will be officially announced soon (via The Washington Times' Janie McCauley):

...We’ll probably have something before the end of this homestand as far as Melky. We’re talking about a lot of things, and that’s one of them. I’ll probably have an answer for you before we leave here to go down to San Diego...

Bochy and the Giants will travel to San Diego for a three-game series against the Padres starting on Friday night. A formal announcement on Cabrera's roster status is expected before then, according to McCauley

The Giants have clinched the NL West division and would play the Cincinnati Reds in the NLDS if the playoffs started on Wednesday. San Francisco is 25-12 since the suspension and has withstood the loss of Cabrera thanks to solid pitching and the big bats of Buster Posey and Angel Pagan.

Cabrera has been out since August 15 and, according to McCauley, could play in the NLCS if the Giants made it that far and decided to bring him back
