Michigan vs. Michigan State Video: Watch William Gholston's Punch Against Rival

Nobody is surprised that things between the Michigan State Spartans and bitter rival Michigan Wolverines got a bit chippy, but William Gholston's punch in plain sight took it over the line.

Rivalry games are known for getting heated and it would be surprising not to see a few verbal spats or skirmishes, but throwing a punch is where we have to draw the line as college football supporters and fans.

In this video Gholston was obviously rather upset with Michigan for one reason or another, so he decided to take his frustrations out on Michigan lineman Taylor Lewan.

This would be a shocking punch, but it was rather clear coming into this game that Gholston is not a fan of the Wolverines. In fact, there aren't any Spartans that are fans of the Wolverines.

It's not like Michigan doesn't return the favor though.

This is one of the nations most bitter rivalries, but punches should not have a place in it.

The punch is clear enough, in fact from a fighting standpoint it was almost the perfect right hook.

That being said, there was absolutely no reason for Gholston not to get thrown out of that game.

He wasn't ejected though, which was clearly a bad call by the referees.

That's what you get with big-time rivalries though. If you think it's all media hype or talk you couldn't be further from the truth.

These two teams really do hate each other, and this hook from Gholston proves it.
