The Dallas Mavericks will rule the world of sports once again at the ESPY Awards show Wednesday night. It is a tight race, but there are a few reason Dallas will take home another title when all is said and done.
The Mavericks are up for an ESPY in the Best Team category, and I am prepared to give it to them before the event even begins.
The field is a tight one. Mark Cuban's team will be battling; Auburn football, Boston Bruins, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco Giants and the Texas A&M women's basketball team.
If there is one team that should get the nod, it would be the San Francisco Giants. I would put the race between them and the Mavs much closer than most would.
It still boggles this Dodgers fan's mind that the Giants are not lauded on a more national level for getting their first title in San Francisco history.
This is one of the most storied franchise that took home the World Series after nobody gave them a chance. They were a scrappy bunch that believed in themselves, and that proved to be enough.
That being said, I think we can all tell what the temperature in the room is. This was one of the most widely discussed and viewed NBA Finals. Fans clamored to voice their opinions on the most hated team in the world in the Miami Heat.
You can bet that the club that vanquished the Heat and LeBron James will get the nod above all others. The most popular of those Mavs is also up for an award of his own. Dirk Nowitzki is my favorite to win best NBA player.
The Nowitzki love fest will continue on this hot summer night in Los Angeles. It may be the city of angles, but tonight it belongs to the Mavericks.
