2011 NHL Mock Draft: Who Are the Best Forwards in the Draft?

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Gabriel Landeskog and Sean Couturier Are the Best Forwards in the 2011 NHL Draft

With the 2011 NHL Draft just a few days away, the teams are on the verge of making some of the biggest decisions of their franchises? year.

There are three top prospects at the forward positions, but none of these players will ever make it past No. 5 in the draft if teams are smart.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is one of the best prospects to come out of this draft, and there is a good chance that he will be a big-time star in the NHL when he finishes growing into his body. Nugent-Hopkins is the best offensive forward in the draft, and he is one of the two players draft-eligible who scored over 100 points last season with their junior team.

Gabriel Landeskog: When you think of Swedish born players, the idea of great leadership abilities doesn?t come until the player has been acclimated to the climate of a new culture. That?s not the case for left wing Gabriel Landeskog, though. Landeskog was the captain of his OHL team at only 17 years old and not only adds a ton of offensive prowess, but the leadership intangibles that a team needs from a potential captain.

Sean Couturier: After scoring 96 points each of the last two seasons, Sean Couturier is one of the best prospects coming out in this year?s draft. At 6?4? and almost 200 pounds, Couturier is already exceptionally big for a NHL forward, and his play has been compared to Eric Lindros when he was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. Look for Couturier to be an instant impact on whatever team selects him in the 2011 NHL Draft.
