On Sunday morning, the Disney Princess Half Marathon—a 13.1-mile run through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot theme parks at Disney World in Orlando, Florida—got underway, as Disney princesses cheered on the runners.

Lauren Passell crossed the finish line first overall on Sunday, finishing with an impressive time of one hour, 22 minutes and 58 seconds. She led the pack of female finishers, as eight women crossed the line before the top male finisher, Melvin Rivera Morales, finished in one hour, 28 minutes and 23 seconds.
Heather Schulz came in second for the women, 29 seconds behind Passell, while Mariela Ortiz finished third, just 46 seconds off the pace. Eric Anderson was second for the men, with David Short rounding out the top three on the male side.
Of course, a huge part of the fun in a race such as this is the atmosphere and environment created around the event. And the runners traversing the course through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot sections of the famous park had quite the setting to enjoy as they competed, as Run Disney shared on Twitter:

Meanwhile, Jenn Fickley-Baker, a social media manager for Walt Disney World, ran into quite the pair during her run:
And so the Disney Princess Half Marathon had something for everyone. For the more competitive runners, it was a chance to prove their merit against some other excellent competitors in the half-marathon run. For the less competitive folks, it was a chance to run through the famous park and take in the various sights and mascots gathered along the course.
The next event in the Run Disney series will be the Expedition Everest Challenge on May 2, a combination of a 5K obstacle run and scavenger hunt.
