J.J. Redick Injury: Updates on Clippers Star's Back and Return

J.J. Redick was forced to leave the Los Angeles Clippers' Jan. 25 game against the Toronto Raptors after suffering back spasms.

The team announced that his return to the game was questionable:

Before leaving the game, Redick was 1-of-2 from the field for two points. He spent four minutes on the court before exiting.

On the season, Redick is averaging 16.4 points a game and boasts a player efficiency rating of 18.2, both of which are career highs. He's been the Clippers' most consistent threat from three-point range, shooting 36.8 percent, which is one of the lowest percentages of his career.

Still Redick remains a key player for Los Angeles. He helps to spread the floor, which opens up the paint for DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin and allows Chris Paul more space to drive to the basket.

He's already missed significant time this year, following a fracture in his right hand and tear of his ulnar collateral ligament.

With the relatively minor nature of this most recent injury, Redick should be able to make a speedier recovery this time around, though, which is good news for the Clippers, as they try to fend off the Houston Rockets for the fourth seed in the Western Conference.
