WWE News: Potential WWE Title Plans for SummerSlam and Beyond (Spoiler)

It's disclosure time again. If you are not a fan of spoilers or potential spoilers, there is no need to read any further.

Especially if you are looking forward to all that the WWE has in store for SummerSlam and heading into WrestleMania 29.

Let me start by saying, as of this article, this is pure speculation. That being said, WrestlingInc.com is reporting:

There has been at least some discussion about taking the WWE Title off CM Punk at SummerSlam and then doing The Rock vs. John Cena at the Royal Rumble followed by Rock vs. Punk at WrestleMania 29.

To me, this story isn't too far-fetched. Especially considering Punk has been WWE champion since Nov. 2011. And during that time, the WWE has witnessed several solid pay-per-view matches and story lines featuring John Cena. Then add on the fact that The Rock has been very verbal about gunning for the WWE title.

Not to mention, The Rock vs. John Cena match at WrestleMania 28 helped garner the WWE's best 'Mania buy-rates in the history of the event.

Ultimately, it appears that the WWE had just enough faith in Punk to make him champ, but not enough to push Cena into the foreground. I personally feel Cena has done a solid job at staying relevant without needing to hold the title. Let's face it, as much as people want to compare Cena to Hulk Hogan, Cena at least was willing to step back and let others have their time in the spotlight.

In the end, nothing appears written in stone, and as we all know with wrestling "The Card is Subject to Change".
