Freeman Hoping to Play Friday
Wednesday, June 17
Freeman departed Wednesday's contest prior to the seventh inning after suffering a right wrist sprain, but he received an injection and is hoping to take the field when the Braves host the New York Mets Friday evening, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution's David O'Brien.
Atlanta's star first baseman went 0-for-3 at the plate before departing, but he continues to lead the club in home runs (12), RBI (41) and hits (76).
He's been particularly hot in June, batting .344 with a .414 OBP, 15 RBI and five home runs, and the Braves have used a ninth-ranked batting average (.260) to prop up a pitching staff that ranks 26th in ERA (4.26).
Should Freeman miss any time, backup infielder Chris Johnson figures to take his place in the starting lineup.
