Take a step back for a moment and think about the constant smokescreens that NFL teams create around the NFL draft.
Recently, former Buffalo Bills receiver Andre Reed tipped off the Twitter-world that the Bills like Florida State quarterback Ponder, and that he looks forward to calling his name atop the second round.
Could this be an excellent smokescreen orchestrated by the Bills? It's no secret that Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey are looking to add a defensive lineman early in the draft. However, the top talent will likely be gone by Friday with the Bills having the second pick in the second round.
Tipping off the sports world that the Bills like Ponder could cause a couple teams to jump the Bills in the second half of the first round to take Ponder, Dalton, or Kaepernick. This would allow fringe first rounders such as Muhammad Wilkerson or Cameron Heyward to fall right into their laps at no. 34.
This is all merely a speculation, but doesn't it seem a bit odd that Andre Reed would to something careless so close to the NFL draft?
Please share your opinions on this theory, and let me know who you would like atop the second round.
