WWE Monday Night Raw Expanding to Three Hours on July 23

Welcome to BR5, your daily source for sports and pop culture.

What can possibly be better than two hours of wrestling? Three hours of course!

On July 23, WWE Raw will celebrate its monumental 1,000th episode with a power bomb. Beginning that Monday night, the wrestling league will permanently make the event three hours long on USA Network. The announcement was made by WWE stars John Cena and Stephanie McMahon.

"Our new three-hour Raw represents the next generation in interactive television where our fans won't just watch the show, they will help create it," WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon told The Hollywood Reporter.

Every Monday, WWE Raw consistently posts great ratings for USA Network and social media news feeds are filled with action packed statuses about the matches. WWE plans on branding the event using "#RAWactive" to promote fan interaction.

Cena, who has over two million followers on Twitter, used his account to make his statement about the upcoming change from a two hour WWE Raw to a "#3hourRaw."

In the past, World Wrestling Entertainment has made many successful three hour programs, but this will be the first time the company will consistently produce this much as part of their TV series. No other series in television history has ever reached the 1,000th episode milestone which is a testament to its success.
