Jeremy Lin has officially become a movement. He dropped 38, showed up Kobe Bryant, embarrassed the Lakers and validated all of his hype, helping the Knicks beat the Lakers in a 92-85 victory.
The first thing he did in his postgame interview? He thanked his teammates.
Lin is everything the Knicks needed at point guard, and more. He's unselfish, the perfect PG in Mike D'Antoni's system and has single-handedly rejuvenated a Knicks team that seemed like it was falling apart at the seams.
Lin is a hero in every sense of the word, and the genuine modesty he puts on display after the game is downright refreshing.
He's gone from backup journeyman to the crown jewel of Madison Square Garden. He's a team-first player, and despite his heroics, hasn't let his newfound fame go to his head.
This was supposed to be the night where Bryant showed the world that Lin was nothing more than a flash in the pan, a system point guard who wouldn't be able to hack it against a juggernaut like the Lakers.
Lin stepped up in a major way, and completely took over the game. He remains the Knicks' biggest fan and star attraction. Those critical of his game, or wary of buying into his unselfish persona, are going to have problems justifying their negative outlook on Lin after seeing this game and interview.
On a night where Kobe dominated, Lin was that much better.
New York has found their humble hero at the perfect time.
