Week 13 of the NFL season is in full swing and fantasy owners are scrambling to top the opposition as the playoffs are soon to be underway if not already in most leagues.
Big-time production from fantasy WRs will be key this week as it always is, and there are several superstar talents facing off against less-than-stellar defensive units this weekend.
Here are the top WRs with pathetic defensive matchups to exploit in Week 13:
No. 3: Laurent Robinson (DAL) vs. Arizona Cardinals
The emerging Cowboys WR exploded last week against the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving for seven catches and two TDs. The effort was worth 19 fantasy points in most ESPN leagues.
This week at Arizona, Robinson is pitted against the 28th-ranked NFL defense against opposing fantasy receivers. Robinson averages well over eight fantasy points per contest in 2011 and has scored seven TDs in the past five games.
No. 2: Calvin Johnson (DET) vs. New Orleans Saints
No doubt Megatron has been slumping as of late in fantasy, but that should change when Detroit hits the road for a must-win in the Superdome without DT Ndamukong Suh.
Johnson has 12 TDs thus far in 2011 and is going up against the Saints' 27th-ranked fantasy defense against WRs. Johnson is also still the No. 1 fantasy scoring WR despite his declining numbers in recent weeks.
No. 1: Wes Welker (NE) vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Pats' mini-option got back on track last week, scoring 23 points in ESPN fantasy leagues and helping New England to a crushing win over the reeling Eagles.
Welker scored two TDs and recorded his first since Week 6 against Dallas. That's good news for fantasy owners everywhere, unless Welker is on the other guy's roster because the Pats are at the winless Colts this week.
Expect Welker, and his partner in crime Tom Brady, to dominate through the air, as Indy ranks 30th against opposing fantasy wideouts this season.
