Deposed Mercedes-Benz U.S.A. chief Ernst Lieb may be gone, but he won't soon be forgotten. Lieb is suing Benz parent company Daimler for wrongful dismissal, with a German court date scheduled for March, according to Automotive News. The automaker claims Lieb, 56 improperly spent a six-figure sum on his company-owned home in Mahwah, N.J., making "incomplete, inaccurate and manipulative statements" when questioned about the expenditures in an audit. "None of the accusations are justified," said Lieb's lawyer, according to the report.
The former CEO's counsel reportedly plans to argue that Lieb was "one of dozens" of executives who were "fired unfairly" as part of a sweeping crackdown on ethics violations.
Lieb was terminated in October, and eventually replaced by Steve Cannon earlier this month.
