NBA Free Agent/Trade Market: 4 Stars Who Can't Shake Off the Sadness

In order to thrive in sports, or in life for that matter, happiness and contentment are vital.  Amongst other things, happiness is the fuel for resiliency, focus and adaptation.  In sports, where "creativity" has a different meaning than say, in literature, happiness can be found in an open pass or a timely steal in the fourth quarter. 

On the contrary, if you are chronically depressed or malcontent, then this state adversely affects everything in your life.  Adrenaline, endorphins, mental acuity, resolve, infectious leadership skills: all marginalized by depression.

Because professional athletes are so impressive in stature and ability, we sometimes forget that they are prone to chronic sadness just like our more physically average office mate or counter guy at the local deli.  An athlete's "job performance" is affected by their moodiness just as much as the everyman. 

Here are four NBA players whose abilities and career statistical output will make them highly-coveted offseason acquisitions.  All have been unhappy for a a good part of their NBA careers. 

Will their moods change with a change of scenery?  Can they harness the necessary optimism during a rough stretch of the playoffs to help lead their teams deep into the playoffs?
