Although they received thirty more first place votes in the AP Poll, LSU is still ranked behind Oklahoma in the USA Today coaches poll, which is a minor travesty as far as I'm concerned.
LSU has already played four ranked teams and handled them all with ease.
First was their dominating opening week victory over then third ranked Oregon, a game that was much more lopsided than the 40-27 final score would have you believe.
The Tigers followed that up by suffocating No. 25 Mississippi State 19-6, then blowing out 16th ranked West Virginia 47-21.
Most recently, LSU annihilated SEC rival Florida 41-11, who really had no chance once it was announced that third-string freshman quarterback Jacoby Brisset would be starting.
LSU has shown throughout the season that they undeniably have the nation's best defense, led by the fiery safety Tyrann Mathieu. The Tigers defense is downright terrifying, with so much speed, strength, experience, and tenacity at every position.
Quarterback Jarrett Lee has been solid while filling in for Jordan Jefferson, throwing for 793 yards and 7 touchdowns. More importantly, he has just one interception and has only been sacked three times in six games.
Lee hasn't been spectacular by any means, but he's been efficient. And with this defense, that's all the Tigers need him to do.
LSU also has a mean running game, as the duo of Michael Ford has combined for 645 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season.
Oklahoma is obviously a very talented team may ultimately win the National Title.
But as of right now, LSU is clearly the best team in the nation, and the Coaches Poll should treat them as such.
