Tami Roman makes her living from a show that claims to the real deal when it comes to life. That fanciful tale took a turn on Thursday when Roman was involved in an accident that left her with a major headache.
Roman is the former wife of NBA retiree, Kenny Anderson. She has been a hit since joining the cast of Basketball Wives, a show that is filled with mostly former wives, and rarely touches up anything basketball related.
In what constitutes high drama in this lockout-fueld NBA, Roman was in a minor car accident on Thursday. TMZ reports Roman was being picked up at the airport in Los Angeles by a car service.
That is when a car hit the car she was in. The accident is described as minor, but that does not mean there wasn't a major outcome.
Roman tweeted right after the accident, "Me & my dude jus landed in LA and got in auto accident. Rear ended by two cars. Thk God no visible injuries-but I have major headache!"
She then later tweeted, "Y, Y, Y me Lord???" Which I can only imagine is tied to the accident. Someone who makes her living with drama has to turn this accident into a major crash.
Now let me continue by saying that I hope Roman is safe, and free of any lingering or major harm. We never like to see anyone injured.
This, however, is a rare case or reality hitting a reality star. You can hardy call what Roman and her costars enjoy as "realism." The hit VH-1 show is more extreme soap opera than anything.
They fight, yell and slap their way to high ratings. It is a sad notion to have, but I imagine that VH-1 is either sad they did not have a camera present today, or happy they did.
In a world that loves their reality TV, it is rare that anything genuine gets televised. We are subject to the whims of producers and stars that want to be the center of the program.
While we wish Roman a speedy recovery, we can't help but be reminded of what entertainment has become. The TV has devolved into a show called Basketball Wives that is more of an exercise in shouting than it is about life off the NBA court.
